Venpongal



Ingredients:
·         2 cup raw rice
·         ½ cup Moong dal
·         1 tsp Cumin seeds
·         1 medium sized Onion finely chopped
·         1 tsp Black pepper
·         Few Curry leaves
·         Few Cashew nuts (optional)
·         1 tbs Ghee/Oil
·         Salt to Taste.
Preparation:
·    In a rice cooker/pressure cooker, take the washed rice, moong dal, cumin seeds, salt and add 5-6 cups of water and cook it.
·    In a separate skillet, for seasoning, heat the ghee and add the onions, black pepper, curry leaves and cashew nuts and fry it for few minutes.
·    Add the above seasoning to the cooked rice mixture and mix well.
·    Check for the salt.
·    Serve the Venpongal with Coconut chutney/Peanut Chutney/Sambar.
