Ingredients:
· 1 cup Yogurt
· 1 medium sized Onion chopped
· 1 tbs raw rice
· 1 tbs Channa dal
· 1 tsp.Cumin seeds
· 2 tbs shredded Coconut
· 4 Green chillies
· ¼ tsp. Turmeric powder
· 1 tsp. Coriander powder
· ½ tsp. Mustard seeds
· ½ tsp. Urad dal
· Few sprinkles of Asafoetida
· Few Curry leaves
· Few Coriander leaves finely chopped
· Salt to taste
· 1 tsp. Oil
Preparation:
· Soak the rice and channa dal for ½ hour.
· In a blender, take the soaked rice, channa dal, green chillies, cumin, coconut and blend it into a fine paste.
· In a bowl take the yogurt, blended mixture, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt and 2 cups of water and mix it well.
· Take a deep bottomed pan, heat oil, add mustard, urad dal, curry leaves, asafoetida, onion one by one and sauté it finely till the onion turns light brown colour.
· Now reduce the heat and add the yogurt mixture.
· Let it stand for 5 -10 minutes.
· When the foam begins to form and slightly the yogurt mixture boils turn off the heat.
· Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
· More Kulambu is ready to serve with rice.
(Note: Don’t over boil the mixture and we can also add vegetables like Bhendi, bitter gourd, pumpkin to the More kulambu)
