Kadalaiparuppu Suyam


Ingredients:

·         1 cup Kadalaiparuppu/ Channa dal
·         1 cup Jaggery powder
·         ½ cup Shredded Coconut
·         1 tsp Cardamom powder
·         2 cup All-purpose flour / Maida
·         1 tbs Rice flour
·         ½  tsp Baking soda
·         Oil for deep frying

Preparation:
·    Soak the channa dal for 1 hour in water and cook it until the dal becomes soft.
·    Now drain the channa dal, take it in a blender and grind it coarsely
·    Take the grinded channa dal in a bowl along with jaggery powder, coconut, cardamom powder and give a fine mix and divide it in to small portions and roll it into small balls.
·    In a separate bowl take the Maida, rice flour, baking soda and mix them finely.
·    Take a cup or desired amount of water and slowly add to the flour mixture and mix it to form a thick consistency and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
·    In a separate deep bottomed pan, heat the oil for deep frying, take a ball of the channa dal mixture and dip it in the flour mixture to give a uniform coating and slowly drop it in the oil, deep fry it until it turns brown and crispy.
·    Remove from the oil and place it in a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
·    Repeat the above for the remaining mixture.
·    Yummy Kadalaiparuppu Suyam is ready to serve.
