Fish Biryani



Ingredients

4 Tilapia fish
3 cups Basmati rice
1 cup Yogurt
1 large sized Onion finely cut in lengthwise
2 medium sized tomatoes diced
3 Green chillies cut in lengthwise
2 tsp Red chilli powder
2 tsp Coriander powder
¼ tsp Turmeric powder
2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
Little Mint leaves
Little Coriander leaves
Few Curry leaves (optional)
Pinch of food colour (optional)
2 Bay leaves
1 Cinnamon sticks
Salt to taste
2 tbs Oil

Preparation

Wash the fish and cut into small pieces then add little turmeric to it which helps in reducing the raw smell of the fish.
In a wide bottomed pan, take oil let it heat for few seconds then add bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, curry leaves, green chillies, onion and ginger garlic paste one by one and sauté it nicely for few minutes.
Add the tomatoes and sauté it for 4-5 minutes.
Now add the fish, yogurt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and sauté it for few minutes and reduce the flame.
As the fish is done and the gravy thickens turn off the flame.
In a rice cooker, take the washed basmati rice, the cooked fish mixture, pinch of food colour, coriander, mint leaves with 6 cups of water, check for the salt and let it cook for 10 minutes.
In a separate pan, take little oil, fry the onion and tomatoes.
Garnish the fish biryani with the fried onion & tomatoes and coriander.
Tasty Fish biryani is ready and serve with raita.
